Expressive Arts

The expressive arts recognize the value of non-verbal expression as a means of communicating our humanness more directly. Throughout time, all societies have employed music, sound, dance, movement, drama, poetry, story-telling, and visual art to link the temporal to the eternal, the personal to the universal. These arts become part of rituals that are embedded in the culture and passed down through generations.

Playing with art materials allows us to express our own inner imagery and participate in this dynamic way. Since for many it is new territory, we can explore and discover something unexpected. This journey can reveal powerful insights.
